How to Make a Web Page

A website consists of several Web pages, which are linked together. Before you build your own website, you need to know how to make a web page at first.
Here we'll introduce three ways to build a web page, no matter whether you have HTML knowledge or not, please read on...

Hand-code HTML Web pages in a text editor like Notepad:

Make a Web page using the language called HTML. HTML is not hard to learn. A HTML Web page consists of the page's text surrounded by various HTML tags for structuring and formatting the page. For example, you surround the text with <p> and </p> tags to create a paragraph of text:

<p> Here is a paragraph of text </p>
You can make your HTML Web pages with a text editor like Notepad, that means you type in the HTML code yourself. It is the best way because you have the most control over what you're doing.
HTML is fairly simple, and it's a good idea to learn at least a few basic tags. However if you don't have a plan to build your Web pages by typing HTML by hand, then there are some good alternatives:

Build Web pages without HTML knowledge

Use a pre-made template: WHAT IS A WEB DESIGN TEMPLATE?

A web site design template is a pre-made website design template which can be customized to reflect your company's branding. Website design templates can be found in various formats like Photoshop and HTML. Many times, these templates are compatible with HTML editors like GoLive, FrontPage, and Dreamweaver.
Web site templates can be very useful, they can be used by experienced web designers to 'jump-start' the creation of a website. They are also a way for people to put out great-looking web sites quickly with little or no knowledge of HTML and web design.

Use an HTML editor like FrontPage or Dreamweaver

HTML editors make building web pages feel like (to a certain extent) creating a document in Microsoft Word ... it's made pretty easy. But the downside is that you lose a certain amount of control of what you're doing and in some cases become dependent on the program.

How to Make Wedding Invitation Card Step by Step

Wedding invitations are the first view your guests will have of the style and vibe of your wedding. Make sure your invites are as personal and unique as your wedding will be, why not make one-of-a-kind wedding invitation cards by yourself. Meanwhile it is not a simple task to write the wedding invitation wordings. In this tutorial you'll learn how to design your own wedding invitation cards with ease and fun, including the wedding invitation wordings.

What You Need to Make a Custom Wedding Invitation Card

  • Your wedding photos

  • A fun and easy software to make wedding invitation cards

  • To design a wedding invitation card, please follow these easy steps using Photo Collage Studio - Digital Scrapbooking Software with ready-to-use invitation card templates included.

Easy Steps to Make a Custom Wedding Invitation Card

  • Step 1: Create Photo Invitation Card from Layout

  • Step 2: Add Favorite Wedding Photos

  • Step 3: Input Wordings for Invitation Card

  • Step 4: Print Photo Invitation Card to Send Out

  • Advice on Wedding Invitation Wording

Follow these simple steps for writing your wedding invitations:

Who is Hosting of the Wedding?

The first names your guests will see on your wedding invitation are those of the people who are paying for the event. Traditionally, this has been the bride's parents, and so it reads:

Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Beazley ,

    or

    Kate and Marvin Beazley

If the bride and groom are hosting, then the line reads:
Ms. Jane Doe and Mr. Sam Smith

    Or

    Together with their families,

    Jane Doe and Sam Smith

    The Request to Wedding Ceremony

The next line in a wedding invitation is the one that requests that your guests attend.
If your ceremony is at a place of worship, then the line should read:
Request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter
Note the formal British spelling of the word "honor." The word daughter is used as an example and should be the gender of the person whose parents are hosting. If, on the other hand your ceremony is at home or other secular location, then the line should read:
Request the pleasure of your company
at the marriage of their daughter
    or
would be delighted for you to attend
    the marriage of their daughter

    If the couple is hosting:
invite you to join us at the celebration of our marriage

    The Happy Couple

Etiquette says that the bride should be listed first, using first and middle names only. Then the groom should be listed, using both title and middle name. So for example:
    Nora Jane
    to
    Mr. Scott Andrew Jackson

A more modern alternative is simply,

    Nora Beazley
    to Scott Jackson
Some couples, especially Jewish couples, may choose to use and instead of to.

Date and Time in Invitation Cards

    Traditionally, these are spelled out:
    Saturday, the tenth of June
    two thousand and six
at four o'clock in the afternoon
note that the month and day are capitalized. If it were a 4:30 ceremony, the time would read at half after four o'clock in the afternoon. But you can also write
    Saturday, June 10, 2006
    at 4 p.m.

    The Location

If the ceremony is at a well known location, you needn't include the address
    The Museum of Fine Arts
    Houston, Texas
but for smaller locations, or your home, you'd want to write out the address.
    The Art Club
    49 Marquis Road
    Blair, Utah

    Time for the Reception

Let your guests know there is going to be a party. This can either be included on the wedding invitation or on a separate reply card. On the wedding invitation, it would read
Reception to follow at the Briar Hills Country Club
If you're not serving a full meal, it is nice to let guests know. You might write:
And afterwards for cocktails and cake in the Rose Room.
    Or
    Dessert and dancing to follow
A separate reception card is often good to use if the ceremony and reception are in different places, or the reception doesn't immediately follow the ceremony. It might read something like
    Reception
    8 o'clock
    Parker Grand Hotel
    342 Allen Road
    Pike, Oregon

    Get Them to RSVP

Traditionally, R.S.V.P. was written on the invitation, and guests knew to reply on their own stationary. Now, most couples find that they get responses more promptly if they include a separate reply card.
This can be mostly blank, allowing guests to write a note, with a line such as:

The favor of a reply is requested before the first of June

Or it can be more detailed, such as
Please reply before the first of June
    M___________________________
    _________Will attend
    _________Will not attend

    You might also write:

    Number of people in party_____

    Optional details

Optional details include telling your guests what to wear. Strictest etiquette tells you not to include information about attire on your invitation, but I think this is an outdated opinion. Guests appreciate clues about how to dress, and are not as instinctively knowledgeable as they used to be. To avoid someone showing up in blue jeans, include a line such as: Black Tie
Other options: Semi-formal, cocktail attire, festive attire, creative black tie, white tie, black tie optional, dressy casual, informal.

Why Flash Won’t Be Going Anywhere

Click here to see more photo gallery template

Flash is also compatible in all browsers—a HUGE advantage over HTML5. Many companies are concerned about reaching their audience, not using the latest web code upgrade.
An advantage CNET points out is that, “Flash video can use a variety of “codecs” for encoding and decoding video as it’s sent from server to viewer. Viewers don’t need to know anything beyond how to click a video’s “play” button, a contrast to Net video’s incompatibility-fraught early days. But with HTML5, though, there are two prevailing codecs right now: H.264, supported by Apple’s Safari and Google’s Chrome, and Ogg Theora, supported by Firefox, Chrome, and, according to plan, Opera. IE, the dominant browser doesn’t support any at HTML5 video at present.”
Companies that rival Apple are also jumping at the bit to make devices to rival the iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone. Motorola for example, is taking a stab into the tablet industry and creating their own tablet device (with the help of Verizon). Motorola has decided it will “be access to Verizon’s FiOS cable service and support Adobe Flash, a platform of choice for more than 90 percent of web videos,” according to the International Business Times.
With more and more companies wanting to rival Apple in these verticals, it will make Flash more appealing for other companies to embrace. That is the great thing about being on the other side of the debate—other companies will embrace the Flash technology to market against Apple’s products.
It isn’t an issue of who is going to move forward in the debate, but what platform works best for your clients. Right now Flash is more compatible with the many different browsers, but HTML5 will catch up eventually. Flash may also deliver better images and quality video, but HTML5 can do a lot, and doesn’t need expensive software to do so. In the end I think a hybrid of the two will be what web designers will be using. Some clients will be Flash crazy, while others will favor HTML5 in the future.
The point is that Flash, which hasn’t had a real competitor, will eventually have one with HTML5. This just means Adobe is going to have to step up their game to deliver better quality results than HTML5 or it is going to lose clients. People can be on team Adobe or team Apple, but it is going to come down to who can render the best results over multiple platforms at a low cost. End of story. The business model isn’t changing, Adobe is just getting a competitor.
It is far too early for HTML5 to be a viable competitor, but in a few years from now we could be seeing it catch fast. You don’t have to take Steve Job’s rigid stance on the subject, but instead have a more open ended approach. Decide what works best on a case by case situation. Does your client need a fast loading time? Are they implementing too many videos onto the site? Do their visitors use a HTML5 compatible browser? All of these are points you need to consider before using HTML5. In the future browser compatibility will be a non-issue and level the playing ground.

Slideshows In Web Design: When To Use Them

Slideshows or carousels are becoming more and more popular in modern web designs. Carousels are essentially slideshow navigations, in which the content rotates vertically or horizontally (hence the name “carousel”). To rotate the navigation, users need to click on one of two toggle elements (usually a left/right or up/down arrow). Depending on the toggle element selected, the content is rotated in the desired direction.

Instead of clicking through various sections of the website for their favorite stories, users can quickly skim through the available stories without vertical scrolling or unnecessary mouse movements. The result: users save time, and the carousel focuses their attention sharply on the content, instead of on interacting with the browser. Such slideshow navigation is often used on entertainment websites and big blogs, but designers also make use of it in their portfolios to showcase their work in a more interactive way.

Let’s take a look at some common places where the sliders are often used.

    1. Portfolios
When designing a portfolio, there are many different ways to organize your projects. One good way is to use a slider. Using a slideshow to showcase different images from a single project is even more common. Some websites will use it to slide through each project, and each slide brings you to a more detailed description of the project.

    2. Slider of Information
Sliders are very popular on home pages of corporate websites. They are very useful for showing important information about a company. Generally, corporations will include an explanation of what the company does, a brief preview of the products, an explanation of what sets their products apart, and many further user options.
Take a look below at the excellent use of the slider technique on Mint.com. This home page slider contains information explaining Mint and what you can do with the service. Also included are graphics, which provide a nice visual to back up the information. This is a very good use of the slider and is extremely convenient for new users on Mint looking to learn more quickly.

    3. Featured Blog Posts
Many blogs use slider galleries to feature top posts. It is a great way to show many top posts and not take up too much space. By fitting numerous featured posts into a smaller element, you are allowing more space for other content.

    Homemade Graduation Gift Ideas

Graduation is an exciting time for anyone, whether it's a high school graduation or a college graduation. If you'd like to give someone a graduation gift, but don't have a lot of money, you may consider making a homemade graduation gift.

    Things You'll Need:

    • Pictures
    • Scrapbook
    • CD/music
    • Frame
    • Picture
    • basket
    • Resource-http://www.ourpix.com
    1. A Scrapbook
Make a scrapbook. A scrapbook is a great homemade gift for the graduate. Include pictures of the graduate from childhood through graduation. Write down personal thoughts or feelings next to the pictures. Write a personalized message for the graduate in the front of the scrapbook or in the back of the scrapbook. You can edit your photos with Picture Collage Maker
    2. Homemade Goodies
Bake homemade goodies. Almost everyone loves homemade baked goodies. Bake up a loaf of bread, or arrange a basket full of cookies or muffins. You may want to store the baked goodies in a resealable plastic bag or in a cute container to keep them fresh. You may also put the baked goodies in a gift basket with tissue paper or paper grass.
    3. Burn a DVD
    4. I sure you keep some photos ,or you may just have a big graduation party. What's the better way to share the early days of your school experience and the exciting graduation moments? It's the graduation video. Graduation slideshow video could be memorable and is a compilation of the old videos, new graduation photos recording every detail on graduation day, and graduation songs. Burn graduation slideshow DVD and easily share through any DVD player with TV connected. Most important is that you could preserve graduation memories for a long time. It's also a good idea to send a graduation video DVD as graduation gift.
    5. Gift basket
Create a gift basket. Fill a basket with little things, such as CDs, DVDs, candy, gift cards or other goodies you know your graduate will like. Before you add the goodies to the basket, be sure to fill the bottom with tissue paper or paper grass. You may even want to wrap each of the individual gifts.
    6. Picture Frame
Frame a picture. Find a nice picture frame and include a recent picture of the graduate by him or herself. You may also consider choosing a picture of the graduate with his or her family. If you choose a metal frame, you can take it to a jeweler to have it engraved and personalized.
    7. Make a slideshow&sharing online
    8. If you need to watch photo album online with friends, just make a graduation photo slideshow so that you could share the show on your blog, ,facebook,Myspace and website. According to Price of Their Toys, commemorative photo items such as framed pictures or a DVD slideshow of your classmates is a touching and extremely budget-friendly gift. A similar idea is a CD with popular songs from throughout your school years.
    Hope those ideas are helpful!

Top Five Worst Mother’s Day Gifts

Mother’s Day is just around the corner so I thought it would helpful to all you people with moms if I gave a quick rundown of what not to get her for that day in honor of her. I’m not talking about macaroni necklaces or hand made cards( Mother's Day Photo Collage Giveaway )
After extensive research (okay, I asked everyone on Facebook and Twitter) I compiled a list of the top five worst ever gifts that women have received for Mother’s Day. If you have already purchased one of these gifts you have time to take it back and get something she might really like. Who am I kidding? I’ve been to Walgreens on Mother’s Day morning. You can’t walk through the card aisle because of all the men searching hopelessly for cards.
The Top Five Mother’s Day Gifts (Don’t get these)
    1. The You’re-Not-My-Mom non gift.
Men who make the mistake of giving this gift usually only give it once. They are so scarred from the after effects of giving this gift that it never happens again. If you have managed to receive this gift and remained married, most gifts following this one are pretty good. Guys, you are right, she isn’t your mother. She is just the woman who gave birth to your child. Cut the apron strings and get with the program.
    2. Anything Automotive
Women don’t want new wiper blades and they certainly don’t want a pair of fuzzy dice, even if you found them in pink. Same goes for a new set of tires or an oil change. You should be doing these things for her anyway. The only acceptable automotive gift for a woman on Mother’s Day is a Mercedes CL65 AMG. If this is in your price range, by all means, go automotive.
    3. Household Appliances
This seems to be the most popular gift and yet it is so wrong. Guys, I know you are trying to help her by getting something, anything, that might lessen her workload. It is a nice gesture but it says to the woman that you think she could do a better job cleaning if she just had the right tools. And maybe she could. If your house is filled with dust bunnies and you can’t find the dog then get her a male servant named Sven. There is one exception, besides Sven, to the no household appliances rule.
    4. Cook Books/Diet Books
Because nothing says “I love you” like How to Lose 30 lbs in 30 Days or Go Make Me a Sandwich. Listen, books are great, and if you can give her an hour of peace so she can actually read the book I say go for it. Better yet, get a gift certificate to a local online bookstore so she can order what she wants. In fact get her a Kindle or an iPad so she can easily download the books she wants when she wants them. Just don’t imply that she needs to lose some baby fat or her cooking skills need a little work. You can do that some other day.
    5. The Homemade Gift Certificate/Coupon Book
These are very popular gifts for Mother’s Day. However, they scream that you forgot all about Mother’s Day and threw something together at the last minute. The intent is great, you will do the dishes each night for a month, back rubs on demand, taking the kids to the park for an hour each week. We’ve all received these at one time or another. The problem is there is no follow through. There has never been any evidence in recorded history of a woman being able to successfully redeem these coupons. Skip this one unless you can gift wrap Sven.
Guys, you still have time to make this the best Mother’s Day ever. I’ve given you plenty of perfectly acceptable gift ideas that won’t get you time in the doghouse. And remember, Father’s Day follows Mother’s Day for a reason.

    Graduation Slideshow Music Ideas

    graduation

The two most important parts of a slideshow are the pictures and the music.
When creating a graduation slideshow, choose pictures that everyone will find interesting, memorable, and/or funny. This means that you will have to ask your classmates for any pictures they would like to contribute. If you receive too many, you can always get a group together and vote on the best ones.

The music for the slideshow should reflect how the students feel about graduating. You might want to use your prom song or choose a different one for graduation.

The following are popular graduation songs:

    Friends Forever by Vitamin C
Moments Like This by Allison Krauss
    Thank You by Dido
These Are the Days by Natalie Merchant

    change text flash

How to change text direction in Flash CS
Everyone knows you can type horizontal text in Flash CS4, but did you know you can change the direction of the text to vertical. You can change the direction of the text without using the transform tool, or repeatedly pressing the enter key to form a vertical line.

Firstly, you need to select the Text tool (T) then locate the ‘Paragraph’ section on the properties panel. If you can see the properties panel, select Window > Properties (Ctrl + F3).
    text-flash

Now select the ‘orientation’ button as shown above. You can either select the vertical left to right, or the vertical right to left. Both of these options set the text vertical, but change the reading point of view as shown below. As you can see below the ‘vertical left to right’ expands the text field to the right. While the ‘vertical right to left’ expand the text field to the left. This is a great feature for people using different languages because you can easily change the character flow from left to right.

    flash embedded in html

    Flash Embedded in HTML

After creating a Flash Album you need to embed the Flash movie into an HTML page, you should go back to your Flash program and do the following steps:
Open the HTML page where you want to insert your Html Photo Gallery. Insert this code:

    <object width="550" height="400">
    <param name="movie" value="somefilename.swf">
    <embed src="somefilename.swf" width="550" height="400">
    </embed>
    </object>

Note: This is the minimum code you need to embed a Flash movie in a browser. A broken icon will appear on the Web page if the user does not have the Flash plug-in installed.

Note: In the code above there is both an <embed> tag and an <object> tag. This is because the <object> tag is recognized by Internet Explorer, and Netscape recognizes the <embed> tag and ignores the <object> tag.

    Step 5
Type in the address of the HTML file in your browser and look at your first Flash movie.

Let the Flash Slideshow Maker do the Work

The code above is the absolute minimum code to embed Flash movies in HTML pages. It is not recommended to use the minimum code. There should be a few more attributes added:

    • classid is an attribute to the <object> tag. It tells Internet Explorer to load the ActiveX plug-in if it is not installed
    • pluginspage is an attribute to the <embed> tag. It displays a link to the Shockwave download page if Netscape does not have it
The Flash program can add these attributes for you:

    Step 1
Flash Image Scroller will create the <object>, <param>, and <embed> tags for you. It will also create the classid and pluginspage attributes.

    Step 2
Open the HTML document that Flash created, view the HTML source and copy the code into your HTML page where you want your Flash movie.

    Step 3
Be sure that you have the "somefilename.swf" in your Web folder.

    Step 4
Type in the address of the HTML file in your browser and look at your first Flash movie.

create favicon ico file flash swf

How to create a favicon ico file
Favicon is short for 'Favorite Icon.' A Favicon is a multi-resolution image included on nearly all professional developed sites. In most browsers the Favicon ICO file is displayed on the Address line, in the Favorites menu or next to the page title in a tabbed document browsing. The Favicon allows the webmaster to give a personal touch to their website, and to create a more customized appearance within a visitor's browser. Often, the Favicon reflects the look and feel of the web site or the organization's logo matching its colors and general feel.
Every webmaster should always create favicons for everysite they are building. It is consider an act of professionalism and it also gives a personal touch to one's website.

The favicon file is very small in size (16x16 pixels) and should contain some small text or image. Webmasters usualy use the website's logo or its main name.

To start of I am going to present several ways in witch one can create favicons.

Easy to use on-line favicon generator

In my search for a favicon generator I found several ways/methods of building/creating one. The fastest one is building a text favicon.

This website antifavicon offers a really nice and fast way for creating a really simple favicon. You only need to enter small text, chose your colors and the software creates your favicon on the fly. This is one route you can use and it is very fast and easy to use.

Create a favicon using your favorite graphics software

Lets asume you want to make your favicon special and not use the online generation tool.

All you need to do is fire up your favorite graphics software and start working.

Remember the favicon is really small, only 16x16pixels, and i dont think anyone can decently create something on that size. So to make things a bit easy you should start of by creating a document lets say 64x64pixels. I am using 64 becouse its a multiple of 16. You should work with whatever size your are comfterbul with, but that has to be a multiple of 16. Now that you have created your main image for the favicon you should scale it down to 16x16 px. If that doesnt look good (ie. blurry) you should go back, edit and size down again.

Now you should save your file in a PNG format. Just chose File>Save As and then selected the PNG format from the extensions list.

If you are using Photoshop in creating the favicon you must know that there is a special plugin that allows you to save files in direct ICO format from Photoshop; download the plugin.

Be advised that for this to work you have to load the plugin into Photoshop, restart it and then open the file you just created and save it in the ICO format naming it favicon.ico

Convert image to ICO format online

For all i know you could also be using Paint to create your favicon so lets asume you dont have Photoshop and the special plugin. There are a bunch of online tools that let you upload a PNG file and convert it to a ICO file.

Icon sushi is an online image to icon converter that supports the mask editor and the creation of Windows XP 32bit/Windows Vista format icons. It can also convert icon files to image files if anyone finds that helpfull.

Convert image to ICO format with software

If for exampe you need more control over the way your files are converted you should install proper software that those the converting onsite and you can manage it more accurately.

I have compiled a small list of the most popular and used software applications used for creating a FAVICON.

IrfanView is a very fast, small, compact and innovative FREEWARE (for non-commercial use) graphic viewer for Windows.

MovieGear is also used for creating animated GIF files that can also translate to animated FAVICONs.

How to use a favicon in your site

Now that you have created your final favicon.ico file you should add it to your sites functionality.

The original way of defining a favicon was by placing it in the root directory of your site. Later a more flexible system was created, using HTML, it is now possible to indicate the location of an icon for any given page. This is achieved using the link element in <head> the section of the document.

    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" />

Convert image to swf flash with flash slideshow maker

In this way, any appropriately sized (16×16 pixels or larger) image can be used, and although many still use the .ico format, other browsers now also support the GIF and PNG image formats.

So now all you have to do is upload the favicon.ico file on your webserver and add the HTML code posted up in the <head> section of your site. Note that you could also use PNG or GIF formats for your favicon but ICO is a standard format accepted by all browsers. Also note that you can also specify the location of the favicon but the standard is keeping it in your website root directory.
By the same time, you could also create flash photo gallery, 3D flash gallery, flash banner, flash album and upload it to MySpace, Blogger, LiveSpace, WorldPress, LiveJournal, and all social websites and blogs with Flash gallery software which support output swf or xml files.
To embed the Flash SWF to your Blogger post, just copy the following code to any of the sections in your blogger post, which you could get from the last step easily.

    <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowScriptAccess="never" allowNetworking="internal" height="264" width="550" data="http://www.flash-gallery-software.com/images/tutorials/flash_banner/banner550.swf">
    <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="never" />
    <param name="allowNetworking" value="internal" />
    <param name="movie" value="http://www.flash-gallery-software.com/images/tutorials/flash_banner/banner550.swf" />
    <param name="quality" value="high" />
    </object>
